With Spring in the air and Summer round the corner we will all be searching for the perfect spot where we can drink cocktails, eat some nibbles and sit in the sun.
You'll feel like you’re in Brazil in no time.
Well your search is over, as we got to experience all this and more at Fazenda.
The terrace, which is in the Exchange Flags, is like a suntrap allowing you to sit back, relax and enjoy the weather. If it gets cold - no problem, they have heaters outside so you don’t have to move. If inside is more your thing, there's a great bar area too.
We started our Fazenda experience with the Queen of the Loire cocktail, which tasted like spring in a glass. It was fresh, a vibrant purple colour and slipped down nicely. This wonder was made with tequila, Blackberry Liquor, sugar, fresh lemon, fresh grapefruit juice and egg white.
Pão de Queijo
For nibbles, or petiscos, as they are better known, we were spoilt for choice. We started with more traditional types of dishes - Azeitonas or Olives and Pickles. If you fancy something warmer you can go for Pão de Queijo – Cheese Bread Balls with Chimichurri mayonnaise or Coxinhas - Brazilian Beef Croquettes which had a lovely crispy exterior and soft potato and beef inside. If you don’t want meat, they have a similar dish – Bolinho de Bacalhau - which are cod and potato fritters.

If you're looking for something a bit more conventional, you can go for the Cassava Chips which were fried wedges or for some spice you can try their Picantonas – spicy, sweet potato wedges that really do give a kick with every bite.
If the sweet potato wedges get too much, you can wash it down with their lovely Pama Bramble - two shots of gin, pomegranate juice, a touch of sugar, fresh lemon and crushed ice. This cocktail was very refreshing, light and just screamed summer.

We made our way through the petiscos and tried the Tropeiro Sausages which was essentially a little breakfast of sausages, egg and black beans. If pastry is more for you, they have Pasteis in two choices: honey pork belly or tomato and prawn.

To wash it all down, we tried a Raspberry Smash consisting of fresh raspberries, fresh mint, Bourbon whiskey, a touch of cranberry juice and fresh lime.
For dessert we tried Brigaderios – Brazilian Chocolate Fudge Balls with a centre like smooth caramel. Decorated with chocolate sprinkles and coming in little wooden box, they had a real sense of occasion.

Sticking with the traditional, we also tried Fazenda's delightful mini churros which were filled with chocolate and came with the customary pot of chocolate dipping sauce.
Fazenda has something for everyone, with its suntrap terrace, amazing fresh cocktails and a great selection of petiscos. You'll feel like you’re in Brazil in no time.
