A BIRKENHEAD brewery's award winning ale is to appear on bars up and down the country as its makers prepare to double in size.
Next month Peerless Pale (3.8%abv) from the Peerless Brewing Company in Birkenhead will be offered to pub landlords throughout the country, for the first time, on the Punch Pub Company’s ‘Finest Ales’ selection list for March and April.
Last Oc tober the cask conditioned brew was hailed as the gold champion for standard strength bitters at the SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) North West Region Beer Competition. It combines American Cascade, Columbus and Summithops for “pungent aromas and a hint of grapefruit and orange flavours with good bitterness”.
David Wilson has been appointed as business manager to spearhead sales growth as the four year old brewery prepares for double expansion. This will take production capacity to 20 brewer’s barrels (5,760 pints) per brew length.
Wilson has formerly worked on both regional and national account roles with Cains in Liverpool, Scottish Courage, Matthew Clark, Holsten UK, Diageo, Thatchers Cider and Greene King.
Peerless MD Steve Briscoe said: “With four years of continuous growth at some 30 per cent, we are now planning our next phase to almost double our present capacity and gain further business nationally.
