THE only hotel where you can lie in bed with Paul McCartney looking down at you has gone up for sale.
The Hard Days Night hotel in North John Street is looking for an £11m buyer.
Like so much else, the 110-bedroom hotel opened in Capital 2008.
The Hard Day's Night is believed to be the only Beatles-themed hotel in the world and it was one of the first in Liverpool to take a punt on a disused downtown Grade II listed building.
Since then, many other operators have followed suit - most recently the £18m Aloft Hotel, just along the street in the Royal Insurance Building, 30 James Street and, coming imminently, the Hilton Doubletree in the old Municipal Annexe on Dale Street.
So when its Wirral owner, Tony Kriss, who runs property firm Concord Estate, says the market is improving and it's time to sell, he might have a point. (Are you listening Alex Langsam, owner of the Britannia Adelphi?)
He also says he won't be going into the hotel business again.
Hard Days Night General Manager Mike Dewey said: “The hotel was created as a unique blend of high quality hotel facilities with a subtle ‘twist’ to cleverly portray the incredible story of the Beatles.
“Its unrivalled location surrounded by Liverpool’s popular tourist destinations means that it is top choice for visitors, with the additional commercial appeal as a business, event and wedding venue.”
It has certainly been popular with Beatles fans and trippers from all over the world.
Shaun Skidmore, director at CBRE, who is marketing the hotel, said: “In bringing the Hard Days Night Hotel to market, we are offering a unique opportunity to acquire not only a culturally significant property but a hugely successful, luxury hotel with an international client base in the best location within one of the UK’s most popular cities.
"This landmark building plays a key role in sustaining the city’s burgeoning reputation as a major tourist destination within the UK. We are incredibly excited to start entering into discussions with interested parties.”
