MANCHESTER  has been a fashion destination ever since its time as a textile town, with its various streets showcasing the more traditional and unique senses of style.

The city looks set to expand on this legacy in October when it plays host to Vogue’s Fashion Night Out (FNO). While some events have been postponed for this year, the UK event has instead decided to make the move up north.

Having launched in 2009, FNO is currently in its fifth year, with events spanning New York, Tokyo, London and beyond. The evening has become a must-go for bloggers, buyers and celebrities alike with a number of well- known faces flocking to it every year.

The evening makes the most of its host cities' surroundings with events extending beyond retail to galleries and museums. The last FNO in London attracted fashion fans in their droves. Big retail names such as Selfridges and Harvey Nichols have already confirmed their involvement in this year's event.

Those who attend can expect more than just clothes though with the night being as much about food, music and fun as it is about retail nowadays.

Previous attractions at FNO in London include; a 70s roller disco courtesy of Rupert Sanderson, hand painted shoes by Alice Dellal and the opportunity for designers to meet and style fans.
