Stella McCartney has joined forces with Adidas to design the kit to cloak our homegrown athletes at this year’s Olympic Games.
Focussing on the blue and white parts of the Union Jack flag for the main body of the kit, red is is featured around the trim, much to the disgruntling of a number of fans on the Team GB Facebook page.
The hundreds of comments have so far included:
It says, "dear world, we appologise for being British." dull as ditch water!
if it is based on the Union Flag, why is there no red for St George's Cross?
Why are people always trying to airbrush out the union jack? Stick to handbags & dresses Stella.
And the list goes on, with the bad outweighing the good on the page.
Stella McCartney on the other hand, has said she was inspired by the Union flag, but wanted to give it a more 'modern' feel. The uniform was unveiled at the official launch at the Tower of London today.
