10% of sales from Everything’s Sweet t-shirts will go to the Pankhurst Trust to mark the centenary
Whether it’s encouraging an ethical ethos or promoting positivity, slogan tees have long been used as a platform for influencing political change.
But now, the fashion favourite is set to put its money where its mantra is, thanks to Manchester start-up Everything’s Sweet.
To celebrate the centenary of [some] women receiving the vote, fashion mavericks Gerry and Alistair Sweet have released a series of pro-feminist t-shirts. 10% off all sales will be donated directly to the Pankhurst Trust, supporting female-first initiatives that fight inequality and support women, including Manchester Women's Aid, a life-line for domestic abuse survivors. The t-shirts are also printed in a Manchester mill, supporting the local economy.
... they wanted to use their fashion skills to create garments that would make a difference.
The idea for the collection came to the couple following a women’s march early last year. Both working in fashion at the time, and having recently become parents to a little girl, Gerry and Alistair decided that they wanted to use their fashion skills to create garments that would make a difference.
The range encompasses the couples love of music and desire to change the world through fashion. From a punk style tee rocking ‘deeds not words’ – the famed mantra upheld by suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurt - to a monochrome t-shirt that screams ‘feminism’ in a heavy metal font, the selection of six t-shirt designs shout feminist slogans loud and proud.
The collection comes in standardised adult sizes – because feminists aren’t just female – as well as children’s sizes and baby rompers. T-shirts are priced at £30 for adults and £18 for kids and babies.
