Oliver Bonas To Open Second Manchester Store

MANCHESTER’S high street is set to get an extra bonus of Oliver Bonas.

The stylish and increasingly popular homeware, womenswear and jewellery store is preparing to open a second shop in the city this year, after taking up residence in Manchester Piccadilly last month (read here).

An early 2017 opening is expected for the new store

Away from the train station's passing traveller trade, Oliver Bonas will move into a far more accessible and fashionable spot at Bank House in the former Joy boutique unit - opposite Zara and close to & Other Stories (which also made its Manchester debut this year).

“With its heritage as the centre of textile trade and rich variety of architecture, Manchester is a British design capital and a natural home for an Oliver Bonas,” declared a spokesperson ahead of its first Manchester opening.

An early 2017 opening is expected for the new store, which will serve up Oliver Bonas’ miscellaneous yet well-curated pieces. Expect simple yet effective womenswear and jewellery, in various shapes and cuts - all designed in-house by the Oliver Bonas design team with a cool simplicity.

A one-stop shop, there’s also a large collection of interior pieces, and shoppers should anticipate Instagrammable homewares such as prettied ceramic bowls and cute trinkets for storing jewellery.

While the store’s young owner Oliver Tress launched the store as far back as 1993, before expanding to over 50 stores in the UK, this year is the first time the brand has ventured over to our neck of the woods. And call it overly optimistic, but a second Oliver Bonas in as many months does seems another step in the right direction for Manchester's fashion high street, which is gradually recovering after umpteen major fashion closures in recent years.
