MANCHESTER Arndale welcomed the start of term with a lock-in for students this week.
The centre was packed with discount-hungry freshers taking advantage of offers including, perhaps the most important of them all, an Aldi £10 off voucher.
Live music acts on the night were five-piece local band Swiss Lips playing on the main stage in Exchange Court and vocalist Ella Shaw, also from Manchester, in the food court. Jaws dropped into KFC buckets as Ella showed off her impressive range. Definitely one to watch.
The evening also saw the launch of NUS extra’s mytown, an upgrade to the NUS extra card which gives students in Manchester the benefit of savings of up to 50 per cent at some of the city’s best student spots.
NUS extra mytown offers include free entry at Frog and Bucket Comedy Club and 42nd Street, 2-4-1 at Black Dog Bowl, 20 per cent off at Band on the Wall, 50 per cent off Lucky Voice Karaoke and 10 per cent off all groceries including booze at The Co-operative Food.
