From steak to salmon, all dishes are £9. And there’s unlimited tea and coffee too…

Hosting a morning business meeting?

Fancy a leisurely weekend breakfast/brunch that feels a little special, but without the ‘special’ price tag?

Either way, Masons’ breakfast menu is hard to beat. It’s simple, superb value (every dish is £9, even the premium likes of salmon and steak) and there’s unlimited tea and coffee: no feeling like you’re outstaying your welcome if you don’t buy another drink.

The venue is impressive too. Located on the first floor of the Grade II-listed Manchester Hall, right in the city centre, it’s a stunning blend of classic and contemporary: plush olive seating, royal blue walls and unstated accents of marble and gold. Light pours in through the large front windows and a profusion of plants brings the outside in.

Even more importantly, food here is top notch. Masons prides itself on simple dishes, well executed and using the UK’s best possible produce. There are no fancy concepts, flowery language or hidden extras - just proper good, great value dishes in beautiful surroundings.

Breakfast is a prime example. There are seven dishes to choose from, spanning the classic English brekkie to Masons egg muffins (with salmon, bacon or wilted spinach) and Loch Fyne smoked salmon.

We’ve tried all these and can confirm that, at £9 each, they’re as remarkable value as they sound. Our favourite had to be the Masons breakfast: fat homemade Bury pork sausages, back bacon, perfectly wobbly free range eggs, a huge grilled field mushroom, sweet cooked tomatoes on the vine and grilled sourdough to mop it all up. This comes in a veggie version too, with grilled avocado replacing the meat.

Other options include a continental spread - including local ham and Lancashire cheese platter, warm pastries, homemade granola and berry compote - and 6oz minute steak with truffle hollandaise. Veggies are well catered for with the likes of avocado and poached eggs, while those feeling particularly peckish can opt for additions like porridge oats.

With free-flowing tea and coffee, drinks are also in the bag. Freshly squeezed orange juice is available, as well as boozier options like Bellini and Bloody Mary.

You know what they say about breakfast - it’s the most important meal of the day. Make it count at Masons.

Masons’ breakfast is served Tuesday to Friday (8am-11am) and weekends (9am-11.30am)
