Bar and rib joint Cane & Grain is looking after us this year, and this April they’re treating us to an extension of their fabulous food-for-a-fiver offer on weekday lunchtimes.
Set over three floors, and part skate bar, part speakeasy, part tiki heaven, Cane & Grain is home to rum, ribs, bourbon and beer, bringing a bit of Americana to Manchester’s Northern Quarter. With diner-style flavours like Monterey Jack cheese, chipotle mayo and even bourbon jam, dishes on the main menu include pulled pork sliders, mac n cheese, chicken wings and Carolina slaw.
The special fiver menu runs Monday to Friday midday until 4pm, with a choice of ribs, burgers and salads. Sink your teeth into sweet and tender baby back ribs (half rib) cut from the loin or two of the big meaty St Louis pork belly ribs. Burger wise, you can choose from the bacon cheeseburger or a veggie alternative: the Mexican beanburger served with salsa and cheese in a brioche bun and nachos and sour cream dip. All these options are served with seasoned fries or side salad, or, if you’re after something healthy-ish, you can go for the full salad of the day with crusty sourdough bread.
Avoid the mid-afternoon slump, stop by Cane & Grain and fill up for a fiver.
