The Team

JAMES CROSS

Owner and Head Chef James started his career at Simpsons in Birmingham (1 Michelin Star) with Chef Luke Tipping. He then travelled to 3 Starred La Pergola in Rome to work under Chef Heinz Beck followed by a stint in New York at 3 Michelin Starred Per Se with Chef Thomas Keller. He then spent two years working at Noma in Copenhagen and was part of the team that saw them twice retain the coveted No 1. spot in the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards.

Sally cross

Sally originally came to Lake Road Kitchen in 2014 to help out with a few waitressing shifts (having previously worked for both Gilpin Hotel and Linthwaite House Hotel), but left her career as a Community Musician to take on the job of Restaurant Manager in 2015. From managing all reservations and finances; dealing with recruitment and restaurant operations, she handles things behind the scenes from the home office but can also be found on the floor on special occasions.

thomas edgerley

Thomas came to us on a weekly stage from the Merewood Hotel back in September 2021 before taking the plunge and joining us full time in April 2022. Working across all departments he is an invaluable member of our small team.

Nick Brown

Nick joined Chef in the kitchen as Senior Chef in May 2022 after 7 years with Chef Tommy Banks at the acclaimed Black Swan at Oldstead where he was Senior Sous Chef & Development Chef. He brings great technical skills and a highly creative mind to the team.

Darren jennings love

Darren joined us in July 2022 from Inn on the Lake where he was 16 years as both Duty and Restaurant Manager. He brings years of experience and incredible customer service skills to the floor (not to mention his South African charm).

    • Pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free and pregnancy friendly diets catered for. Most other diets/allergies can be catered for so please just ask.

    • 5 Serving menu has limited availability each night and is not available on NYE, Valentine’s Day or Easter.

  • Maximum party size 10 (please contact us for parties of 11 - 24)

  • Minimum age 12 years

  • A discretionary service charge of 10% is added to all bills

On Monday 5th February 2024 we were awarded a Michelin Star at the ceremony at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.
