Don’t be sad that summer’s gone. Autumn has its plus points too — like crisp walks in a cosy jumper and The Pen and Pencil’s new menu.
Don’t worry, all your favourites are still here. Brunch just wouldn’t be brunch without our big P&P fry-up or our eggs royale. But what about our French toast casserole? Think seasonal berries topped with cinnamon brioche and baked for a brand new brunch dish that knocks it out of the park.
Other next-level brunch newbies are our squash ratatouille with poached egg, packed with fragrant herbs and punchy veg, as well as our Nduja potato hash. Spicy Nduja with two runny eggs, that’s right, two eggs poached in a very pleasing way. Feelgood forkfuls every time.
Mains have had a makeover too. Say hello to our Jefferson mac and cheese lava cake on a crisp leafy salad, wave hi to our monkfish with beetroot, lentils and clams and give a socially-distanced high five (tricky, that one) to our vegan crunch wrap.
The humble cheese and ham sandwich was — apparently — lockdown’s most oft-made sandwich in kitchens across the country. Try it P&P style with a deep fried cheese and prosciutto number. We like to take things up a notch and make the new season something to celebrate.
The times they are a-changing so greet autumn with a grin and some of our home-made meatballs.
