“Somewhere in time” – that’s what it says on the drinks list for Lily’s Bar, and head down the stairs from 1761 restaurant and you’ll discover an old-glamour type place just made for getting away from it all.
Perfect for whiling away the hours, there are cosy nooks to hide in, luxe leather sofas to slump in and a giant fishtank to gaze in. The other-wordly dreamy feel is emphasised by the cocktails – cyanide sparkles, penicillin is dispensed and bubbles flow freely.
So much so, that the bar is named after Lily Bollinger of the world-famous fizz company, who said: “I drink Champagne when I’m happy and when I’m sad. Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it – unless I’m thirsty.”
