It's Mexican food but not as we know it. This is Mexican cuisine as you would find it in Mexico, and not just because they shipped their tortilla press all the way over here from Mexico City. El Taquero's Mexican head chef, manager, and servers DO NOT serve the typical Tex-Mex food we are accustomed to here and instead deliver authentic food from south of the Rio Grande.
From the Huitaloche Quesadillas made with corn truffle (a real Mexican delicacy) to the Pan de Elote (a sweetcorn bread dessert with traditional Rompope sauce), there are LOTS of new tastes to discover here.
El Taquero means 'the taco maker' and, boy, do they make proper Mexican tacos. Go for classic fillings such as Al Pastor (marinated pork), Carnitas (confit pork), Baja-style shrimp and fish, steak and cactus, pork skins and avocado, Mexican chorizo, and home-smoked marlin and haberno salsa. They also have loads of veggie and vegan options.
And to drink? Explore their extensive menu of mezcal and tequila cocktails and shots. Or go for a Cafe de Olla - a traditional Mexican coffee made with cinnamon and piloncillo.
Let's just say, you won't be bored eating here. Take your voucher and a sense of adventure and let the fun begin.
