Come on a taste trip to the Rainbow Nation

From our South African bar and kitchen to the Northern Quarter, we serve up a true taste of the Cape, with some specialities imported plus traditional delicacies made especially for us nearby or in house, including the chakalaka relish of our name.

Our famous boerewors sausages are handmade to a traditional recipe by our local South African butcher using beef and pork with a special mix of spices. You can try them hot dog “boerie” style in a brioche bun dolloped with a classic tomato and onion relish or our chunky “monkey gland sauce” of mango and Worcestershire, or as bangers and pap, a maize side dish not unlike fluffy mashed potato.

Other South African classics include sosatie – seasoned and skewered pork and beef – and bobotie – baked sweet curried mince or Quorn. Our four curries are also a big hit, and you can choose them with yellow rice or as bunny chow, when we stuff your choice into a serious hunk of freshly baked, hollow loaf.

Can’t decide? We’ve created mezze boards of all our favourites just for you. For meat fans, there’s a board with boerewors and mac & cheese with biltong dry-cured beef. There’s wings in a piri piri rub and monket gland sauce, piri piri fries, and balsamic feta and pomegranate salad, all of which also appear on the veggie board alongside creamy mac & cheese, paprika-battered cheesy maize balls, and crispy vegan sweet chilli bites.

We also offer a range of South African drinks, from boozy milkshakes with SA cream liqueur Amarula (available from our online shop) to unique cocktails like Rooibos MarTEAni and peachy Joburg Sunset, 2-4-1 in Happy Hour timings. There’s a house lager and Cape Brewing pale ale, plus an all-South African wine list.

Happy Hour runs from:
Sunday-Thursday 5-8pm
Friday 5-8pm & 10pm-midnight
Saturday 12-2pm, 4-6pm & 10pm-midnight

Sounds good, right?
