HERE'S your chance to win five places on a special Rail Ale Trail at the East Lancashire Railway worth over £130.
In times when cholera was rife, it was safer to drink beer than water, and that's the excuse the folk at the East Lancashire Railway are sticking to as you embark on a steam-powered pub crawl through the picturesque Irwell Valley.
The guided Rail Ale Tours are a great way to get out into the countryside, see some of the marvellous sites the region has to offer, and also enjoy a few locally brewed pints.
Enter the competition to win five places on the Beer-n-Songs tour on Saturday 14 July, 12 - 4pm. Whet your whistle with ale as you'll need it to join in the chorus on this musical meander around Summerseat and Ramsbottom, accompanied by Lancashire folklore, wit and songs.
Starting the tour in Bury including a first pub stop, there is plenty of history, intriguing facts and hilarious anecdotes to keep you entertained. The tour continues onboard a heritage steam train to Summerseat, sampling a bottle of finest East Lancashire Railway Ale (included in the tour) en route, before carrying on to Ramsbottom to finish your jolly pub crawl, stopping at a selection of beer houses and discovering more about local brewing antics.
A full line return ticket, tour guiding accompanied by live music and a bottle of ale is included in the tour. Drinks at pubs are not included so bring some ale money.
