JULY sees the arrival of the award-winning Buxton Festival 2014, which brings a unique line-up of exciting operas, classical concerts and literary talks to the historic spa town. Now in its 36th year, the nationally acclaimed arts festival is a fortnight long summer celebration of the very best music, opera and literature in the beautiful Peak District and brings a jam-packed programme of exciting shows and events to audiences new and old.

To celebrate the forthcoming extravaganza, Manchester Confidential has teamed up with Buxton’s Old Hall Hotel to offer a fantastic prize package including an overnight stay at the hotel for two with a traditional English breakfast served on the morning of your stay and a pair of tickets to hear legendary broadcaster and author Kate Adie’s talk at the Buxton Opera House on Tuesday 22nd July at 10.30am.

Kate_Img_0507One lucky winner and a friend will enjoy a relaxing overnight stay at the Old Hall Hotel in an individually designed standard double room at this charming retreat, which is thought to be the oldest hotel in England and is steeped in history. The hotel enjoys a unique location in the heart of the pretty spa town and has gained an outstanding reputation in the High Peak and beyond for its warm hospitality, delicious locally-sourced dishes and afternoon teas, which you’ll be lucky enough to sample during your stay.

The Old Hall boasts a fabulous location just a stone’s throw from the picturesque Pavilion Gardens and the famous Buxton Opera House, where the winner and a chosen guest will hear Kate Adie’s fascinating talk about her former role as the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent. In her talk, ‘Fighting on the Home Front,’ Kate Adie will take a fresh look at surprising and uncharted changes in the lives of women during World War I.
