BAR + COFFEE SHOP

BAR + COFFEE SHOP

Future Yard open seven days a week.

As well as being your friendly neighbourhood music venue, we’re also your friendly neighbourhood bar + coffee shop, open indoors (and outdoors, if the weather’s nice!) every day. Now it’s even easier for you to join us for a drink or a bite to eat, without the need for constantly watching weather forecasts!

We’re open 7 days a week, 10am to 11pm (later on Fridays and Saturday), so there’s plenty of chance for you to get a taste of the full Future Yard experience. If you’ve already been here to see us then you’ll have seen the lush greenery that adorns the space, and already have an idea of how relaxing the space is for an afternoon latte or a few pints of Dazzle Ships Lager as the sun sets over Birkenhead.

Serving a full range of coffee, beers and cocktails, our indoor bar area has ample space to welcome you. We’ll have DJs setting the vibe on Friday and Saturday nights from the raised indoor booth and a great range of sustainable, plant-based food.

Our Garden is accessible all year round for those who want to go outside – but the garden bar is only open for special events. You can still order food and drink from the front bar and take it outside if you want, but we’ve got plenty of seating in the always warm indoors! Our fully accessible live room is only open to the public for gigs, and physical tickets for all gigs are able to be purchased at the bar. You can find all of our live listings here – and they’re all up on the listings board in the bar area for your perusing pleasure.

Don’t forget, our weekly Open Mic is also hosted in The Yellow Room every Tuesday – find out more here!

POURING

  • A superb range of local craft beers and brews, from the likes of Glen Affric, Chapter Brewing, Black Lodge, Cloudwater, Top Rope and ShinDigger.
  • Great coffee from incredible roasteries working closely with farmers, and teas made with 100% natural ingredients.
  • An extensive range of soft drinks and fruit presses.
  • Refreshing cocktails.

We’re keeping our suppliers as close to home as possible. Partly because of our commitment to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, but also because there are so many incredible independent brewers, roasters and mixologists on our doorstep!

Glen Affric are a craft brewery situated a stone’s throw from Future Yard, and have been brewing award-winning beers from their Birkenhead home since 2017. We’ve teamed up with Glen Affric on three corking beers which will always be available on our pumps (with cans coming very soon – watch this space!): Dazzle Ships lager, Pale House Futsal and Dreaming Of Brew IPA. All are perfect to sup on while the sun beats down on our beer garden, as are a range of other lines on rotation from some of the region’s finest craft breweries. We’ll be mixing up our beers regularly, so you’ll have to check back in to see what’s on offer. Keep an eye out on the Currently Pouring board in the bar whenever you’re inside with us.

Our coffee is served fresh from a gleaming La Marzocco machine (😍) which puts out some of the most beautifully consistent espresso you can get. Our house espresso is provided by ALL CAPS, a speciality coffee roastery based in Chester who are committed to transparently sourcing tasty coffees in a sustainable way. Supplying Brazilian, Kenyan, Peru, Salvadorian, and Colombian beans roasted on a Giesen roaster, with the ultimate aim of presenting the intrinsic and distinctive qualities of each of the carefully selected lots they source – all resulting in one of the best coffee experiences available this side of the Mersey.

We’ll be getting the best milk from local dairy Peckforton Farm, and Bates Dairy will supply us with an oat alternative. Almond and coconut milk varieties are also on offer (Alpro). Filter coffee is available as batch brew, Chemex, or Aeropress. Currently we have two filters by our neighbours just through the tunnel, Neighbourhood Cofffee, and we’ll be updating our guest filters on a regular basis.

Now serving some refreshing cocktails, perfect to enjoy on weekend evenings when enjoying the hustle and bustle on Argyle Street, with some great selectors playing in the bar. We’ve teamed up with Wirral’s one and only artisan gin distillery Tappers Gin for some of the very best gin based cocktails,; like the sugary-sweet Big Pink (Tickled Pink Gin, White Wine, Sugar, Grapefruit and Soda), the fan-favourite Ginger Spice (Hydropathic Pudding Fruit Cup Gin, Strawberry, Lime and Ginger Beer) and the one with the extra kick to it – Darkside Fizz (Darkside Coastal Gin, Sloe Gin, Lemon and Soda).

And if you’re not a huge gin fan, well fear not (!) as here at Future Yard we try and offer you something different, something you haven’t experienced before, and nowhere is this more evident than on our own-brand cocktail list, including, but not limited too, the north of the border inspired Dundee Jaguar (Jagermeister, Blood Orange and Irn Bru), the homegrown Leisure Peninsula (White Rum, Amaro Montenegro, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice and Soda) and the ‘go-on-I’ll-try-it-if-you-do’ Girkenhead (Four Roses Bourbon, Pickle Juice, Cucumber, Bitters and Girkin). Fun for all the family (as long as that family is all over 18 of course).

For the easy goers, drivers and people just chilling, we’re stocked up with a massive range of teas, fruit presses and soft drinks – because not everyone wants a caffeine or alcohol hit in the sun. Our range of teas comes from ZIGZAG, so you can sip on an Earl Grey, a zesty Yunnan Green or a good old fashioned English Breakfast tea. Punchy produce a range of characterful, natural punches that will still give you a little boost – and a percentage of proceeds from each sale are donated to charities through Punchy’s brilliant sustainability arm. We’ll also have kombuchas and iced teas to pick from – and for those who want a halfway house, Schöfferhofer’s 2.5% ABV grapefruit wheat beer will be served on draught.
