THE church bells are ringing last orders for Scotland Road's very own beer-loving priest.

After 16 years, Father Graeme Dunn is leaving his flock at St Anthony's Church for pastures new. However there's just time for a few more scoops as he presides over his final Ales From The Crypt, the beer festival he founded in 2006.

And while Project Jennifer developer St Modwen is named after an ancient Irish saint, it is blessed on this occasion for once again providing sponsorship for the event, hosted within the parish crypt from October 13 – 16.

Expect 30 beers and at least five hand-pumped ciders, plus a selection of pub grub.

Father Dunne, who is off to St Gregory’s, Chorley, toasted the builder and said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting this brilliant event for the tenth year running. It really is a lovely occasion and a fitting one to help celebrate my time with St Anthony’s over the past 16 years.

“I would like to thank St. Modwen for its support to the parish and the event over the years and I wish them all the best with the development of Project Jennifer. I’ll certainly be back to visit on completion which I understand happens in the spring.”

Paul Batho, projects director at St. Modwen, said: “The St Anthony’s beer festival is an event that we have been very happy to sponsor for the past ten years. Father Graeme has been a great support and advocate of Project Jennifer and we look forward to celebrating his achievements at the parish at the festival in October.

“We have received lots of support from the local community as the development of Project Jennifer progresses for which we are really appreciative and we look forward to delivering this important asset for this area of Liverpool.”

Taking over as parish priest of St Anthony’s later this year will be one Father Gordon "Abbs". Just don't tell Purple Aki.
