A true harmony of old and new, The Black Friar reopened this July following a 15-year hiatus, where it lay derelict due to fire damage. Great care and attention has been taken in the renovation, remaining sensitive to the building’s original features, while adding a slick modern finish throughout, to create a place where everyone feels at home.
There is something for all tastes and fancies, with a traditional pub area offering an extensive range of drinks, alongside a classic menu of honest bar food. Under the same roof sits a modern glass restaurant, surrounded by greenery and serving a menu of fine food using locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
If the sun is shining, head out to the courtyard and outdoor beer garden and soak up the atmosphere. There are also function spaces on the second floor that can be exclusively booked for private events and parties.
