Liam and Ellis Barrie (off the telly) will launch new venture in 2019
The brother's behind the Marram Grass, an award-winning potting shed cafe at a caravan park in Anglesey, have revealed plans to open a new restaurant in Liverpool in 2019.
Avid TV-watchers might recognise Ellis Barrie, one of the finalists in this year’s Great British Menu on BBC Two, which is currently entering its seventh week with a focus on North West talent.

Ellis first hit the culinary scene in 2009 when he and his brother Liam (both Liverpool natives) opened a cafe at their parents' camp site in North Wales. The Marram Grass - which they say now serves 2000 people a week - became a smash success, winning 2 AA Rosettes and an entry in the Good Food Guide, as well as a number of critical accolades.
Now, Ellis and Liam are heading back home with a new venture on Albert Dock next year. Ellis said: "Despite the obvious differences in the spaces, Liverpool and North Wales have a lot in common, ultimately sharing a massive heritage together. It will be great to see how the restaurants and teams can develop alongside each other and to explore what that means for a new opening."
Brother Liam added: “We’re incredibly excited to get the site up and running in such a brilliant part of town. What I love about the Dock is the diversity that it brings to the city – it’s full of locals and tourists alike and there’s a real buzz about the place.
"I’m confident that my brother’s cooking and the two of ours concept will work well here - we’re Liverpool born and bred so we’re really looking forward to being back in the city to showcase what we do.”
