The new food hall and market features 11 vendors and a licensed bar

We flippin’ love a food market, so when the news dropped that a new place had opened on Renshaw Street in Liverpool we were on it like Sonic. Bang on the crossroads of Berry Street, Bold Street and Leece Street, Renshaw Street Food Market has a variety of lip-smacking Asian cuisine to choose from including Korean, Thai and Cantonese.

Whether it's a chinese bubble tea or quick pasta lunch there are options to suit everyone.

Neon signs cascade above the food stalls - it’s bold, bright and a different vibe from the likes of Duke Street Food & Drink Market, Baltic Market and The GPO. Owner Xiaoyu Zhou says that his market is carving out its own niche, celebrating authentic Asian-based food as well as other continents for everyone to share.

Renshaw Street Food Market introduces some leading international brands into Liverpool, which includes Dagu Rice Noodle (300 restaurants in China, USA, New Zealand and Dubai), Nduo Sushi (over 3,000 shops in China, South East Asia and Australia) and Zhengxin Fried Chicken (over 20,000 shops around the world).

The food market itself contains 11 different food units and a licensed bar. As well as a strong Asian influence, there are currently vendors serving street food, big plates and desserts from Italy, Turkey and Mexico. The world cup of food. Kind of.

We sampled plates of Korean fried rice, roast duck, fried chicken and sushi, but the more adventurous among you can tuck into the likes of chicken feet with black bean sauce, honeycomb tripe, or rice wrapped in lotus leaf. One of our group had a Mexican quesadilla and pistachio gelato, so you can really mix it up if you want to.

Xiaoyu Zhou, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and customers, said that he was excited to be launching the market after a long fit out of the premises.

Joe said, “We feel that the balance of cuisines on offer will be hugely popular with local clients and visiting tourists alike, who love to experiment and try out every type of cuisine. Now they will get the chance to sample any dish they choose from our vendors, which is wonderful for casual diners.

“Although the Renshaw Street Food Market has an Asian theme running through its core there are also Mediterranean and Middle Eastern vendors. So whether it's a chinese bubble tea or quick pasta lunch there are options to suit everyone.”
