The jobs fair aims to solve the food and drink staff crisis

In a city region famed for its incredible hospitality scene, it’s no secret that the industry has suffered during the pandemic. The situation is certainly improving in 2022, but for countless restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels the staffing crisis has not gone away.

Hospitality is a wonderful career choice and it can be a lifelong path.

It’s a problem for everyone, from high end fine dining to casual eating, intimate pubs and huge bars, boutique hotels and the big brand names spread across Liverpool. To help solve the challenge of staff shortages, Jobcentre Plus and members of Liverpool Hospitality have come together to organise a recruitment day.

With a record number of vacancies open across the sector and many businesses experiencing challenges filling these positions, Jobcentre Plus initially reached out to Paul Askew from The Art School to ask members of Liverpool Hospitality to take part in the event.

Paul Askew, who will also be speaking at the event, says: “This event is really going to help fill some critical roles in hospitality across the city, and it’s great to see some of the leading names coming together with all of these brilliant positions. Hospitality is a wonderful career choice and it can be a lifelong path.

“At The Art School and across Liverpool there are many amazing opportunities to embark on a career in the sector and be part of something special. For me, Liverpool really is the UK’s hospitality city and we hope to see anyone looking for work like this to come to the jobs fair on Wednesday.”
