Spanish Restaurant Group takes over the Queen Square site
THE last remaining La Tasca restaurant in the UK has closed, as the growing Tapas Revolution chain has moved into Liverpool’s Queen Square.
Tapas Revolution says it will bring a fresh new look and Spanish inspired menu by Madrid-born, TV Celebrity chef Omar Allibhoy. The makeover is aiming for “modern day Barcelona or Ibiza” and offers an all-day dining experience with a “Spanish Terraza”.

The menu development has been led by executive chef Omar Allibhoy, who you might recognise from the likes of Sunday Brunch, This Morning and Saturday Kitchen.
“Since opening the first Tapas Revolution restaurant back in 2010, we continue to grow from strength to strength and we’re delighted to now open our new restaurant here in Liverpool,” says Omar.
“The opening of the new restaurant provides a welcome boost to the local hospitality sector and we’re truly excited to see what the future holds for Tapas Revolution.”
Alongside traditional tapas favourites, the menu features paella, sharing plates and main courses, including 12-hour slow-roasted Iberian pork shank, marinated chicken in a lemon and garlic glaze, and vegan “calabaza asada”; roasted butternut squash served with chickpeas, oyster mushrooms, piquillo peppers, and baby spinach.
To celebrate Tapas Revolution Liverpool opens its doors to the public, the restaurant will have a pop up tapas van in Queen Square offering complimentary calamari, patatas bravas, chorizo and churros to passing guests on Wednesday 3 November, Thursday 4 November and Friday 5 November from 12-3pm and 5-8pm.
“We’re so excited to have opened our doors at our new Liverpool city centre site,” says Omar.
“To give our guests a taster of the menu, we’ll be providing complimentary tapas dishes including our incredibly popular calamari and chorizo, and everyone’s favourite; patatas bravas. For those with a sweet tooth, we’ll have our delicious churros tossed in cinnamon sugar and served with warm chocolate dipping sauce.
“I’ll be serving the dishes and hope to see many of our Scouse guests so that I can chat through our menu and the dishes and answer any questions on Liverpool’s newest tapas restaurant.”
The first La Tasca opened in Manchester in 1993, and at its peak grew to 80 restaurants around the UK. In 2015, La Tasca was taken over by Casual Dining Group (now known as The Big Table) who also owned the popular La Viña tapas restaurant on North John Street - now Six By Nico Liverpool.
Tapas Revolution’s latest Liverpool site marks its tenth across the brand, with restaurants in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Bath, Newcastle, Sheffield and more.
