LIVERPOOL Fashion Week returned for a sixth consecutive year to showcase design talent across the North West on 12 - 14 October.

Exhibitor standouts came from shoe designer Cheryl Penny, and her line 'Elusive Rabbit'

Developed by magazine publisher Amanda Moss, the theme was nautical to tie in with the 175 year celebrations of the Cunard ships.

Fittinlgly, therefore, the show was hosted at the cruise-ship inspired Liner Hotel over two days before moving on to Liverpool Marina for an exhibition and closing night. A glamorous afterparty was held at Nova 48 nightclub on Castle Street.

A variety of designers took to the catwalk. Highlights came from Childsplay Clothing, the sponsors of this year’s show who stock upmarket brands for kids as young as 16 months. The confident models charmed the crowd, with some of the younger ones waving to their mums and blowing kisses.

Racier adult brands such as Amentium - a lingerie, swimwear and latex company who featured models wearing nipple covers - were also part of the line-up.

'Amazing'

She said: “It’s been amazing to have the opportunity to exhibit at Liverpool Fashion Week. Although I haven’t quite made the jump to the catwalk it gives me wonderful and amazing ideas for how my designs would look up on stage. I’ve met some amazing designers, models and exhibitors that a really passionate about fashion which is wonderful.”

Overall, Liverpool Fashion Week failed to make a similar high impact as it had in previous years. Compared to Liverpool Fashion Week's standout show at The Liver in 2013, which had two floors bursting with designers and exhibitors, this year's show lacked similar polish and organisation.

Still, with prosecco flowing and Liverpool's fashion community networking, the show managed to give new design talent a platform to showcase themselves to the city.

Here are our top five favourite designers from the first two nights:

Elusive Rabbit: Designer Cheryl Penny didn’t have a collection on the runway but was an exhibitor. Her shoe designs were imaginative and wonderful.

Bache Menswear: This is a men’s clothing line and the colours of dark greys and black were cool and slick.

Tayamika: Tamyamika displayed a beautiful African print inspired collection. The use of vibrant colours and eye-catching prints made each outfit an incredible stand out piece.

Amentium: Lingerie, swimwear and latex company pushed the boundaries on the catwalk, with some models wearing thongs, a cupless bras and nipple covers. Each piece was lovely but sexy and would drive any 50 Shades Of Grey fan wild.

John Lewis: Even though this is a high street brand, we loved their sixties vibes on the runway with stunning pieces perfect for the office which could easily be dressed up for the evening.
