ANYONE who has ever pondered a staycation in Cornwall knows that it is often quicker and simpler, once you hit Bristol, to drive straight down to France and enjoy all the cheap Muscadet charms that come with it.

But for those determined to hang a right - pasty lovers, surfers, Boombar swiggers and UKIP poster spotters - there is good news. You'll have to commit to a week though.

Flybe has just announced a Saturday to Saturday flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Cornwall airport Newquay, taking over from easyJet who ran the route for the last two years.  The flight departs from Liverpool on Saturdays at 18:30 from 21st May through to 24th September 2016. That's starting a whole month earlier than easyJet and takes advantage of the spring half term.

Robin Tudor, Liverpool Airport PR supremo, commented, “Cornwall is a beautiful part of the country but notoriously difficult to get to at the best of times, taking at least five hours by car and even longer by train from Liverpool.

"Flybe’s flight to Cornwall Airport Newquay will mean the region’s holidaymakers can be there in just over an hour saving all the hassle and able to spend more time to enjoy this popular holiday region.”

Maybe they will fly to Brittany next.

Tickets, from £29.99 one way, are available here. And if you really do get homesick, there are flights back to Manchester every day!
