FOR 84 years it has been the householder's household name.

Now Ena Shaw Home, one of St Helens best-loved independent retailers, has brought itself bang up to date to salute the next century of home-making.

The 25,000 sq ft store officially reopened at the weekend and while the weather outside was unseasonably frightful, it didn't stop hundreds of loyal customers from battling blizzards to be there.

To mark the occasion, staff at Ena Shaw Home served drinks and cakes and handed out balloons to say a big thank you for the continued support shown by the local community.

Situated on Duke Street, the huge family-owned retailer has been going since 1929. So it was time for a revamp and now the owners have invested over £250,000 with a luxurious in-store facelift and a revitalised product range.

The Mayor of St Helens helped to kick-off a day of celebrations on Friday 22 March, when the
store was relaunched with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.

And the new-look store did a brisk trade as crowds of savvy shoppers snapped up goods from its new range of high-end furniture, soft furnishings and accessories, which enjoyed opening offers of up to 30 per cent.

Ena Shaw Home's boss, Barrie Potter, said: “It was great to see such a fantastic turnout from local people to support the launch. We’ve been working around the clock to make Ena Shaw Home the ultimate shopping destination for stylish and affordable home essentials in St Helens.”
