Win! Dinner and drinks for four at Clockworks
THE times they are a-changing on the renovated Wolstenholme Square in the Ropewalks end of town, where buildings are coming and going and new places are opening regular as, well, Clockworks.
You’ll find the chic restaurant and cocktail bar of that name in a refurbished 18th-century merchant house where Parr Street opens out into the rejuvenated Square (near where Nation hosted Cream, remember?), home to Jorge Pardo’s iconic Penelope sculpture, installed for the 2006 Biennial and, recently restored, possibly the largest piece of public art in the city centre.
Facing that, Clockworks is open from first thing right until late, offering classic food and cocktails in a cosy setting combining exposed red brick and industrial ironwork. Specialising in updated takes on British breakfast, lunch and dinner, food at Clockworks is sometimes a little indulgent, and always comforting, tasty and entirely traceable. Everything is made from scratch using only the finest ingredients – think slow-roasted pork belly, lamb rump with sautéed potatoes, haddock and chips, and duck breast with pomme puree.
If you’ve not yet tracked down Clockworks, now’s your chance – we have dinner and drinks for four people up for grabs.
