easyJet has celebrated carrying its 35 millionth passenger to and from Liverpool John Lennon Airport ("Above us only skies").

So to celebrate, airline representatives showed up to surprise two travellers with another pair of return flights to somewhere.

The airline these days offers 30 routes from LJLA. Amsterdam-bound Tjasa Franko and Fateha Khanom were buttonholed with the good news.

easyJet has been serving the airport for 12 years and bases seven aircraft at the airport.

Airport supremo Andrew Cornish said: "We have come a long way since the launch of our first easyJet flight in 1997, and since then easyJet have been integral to the growth of the airport and the city. We're looking forward to continuing the fantastic partnership and to looking after the next 35 million customers."
